Director, Business Performance and Operations – European Evidence Generation Team (VEO)

Understanding and improving patient outcomes through the generation of evidence is a priority for GSK. Evidence that a therapy is effective and safe, evidence to support optimal treatment decisions (HCPs), evidence to support patient access (Payers), and evidence to understand how a therapy might meet patient unmet needs are all important evidentiary requirements.
The European Value Evidence and Outcomes (VEO) and Medical Affairs organizations are focused on strategically defining and delivering market-leading evidence that drives transformative value for patients, payers, providers across Europe.
The European Evidence Generation team has recently undergone a re-organization to provide greater strategic leadership, tactical execution, and to improve operational efficiency of the end-to-end evidence generation framework. As Director, Business Performance and Operations for Europe, you will lead the transformation of a growing and changing organization that includes leading key strategic initiatives, drive quality, discipline, and excellence in planning, financial management and execution.
Job Purpose
The Director, Business Performance and Operations – Europe will report directly to the European Evidence Generation Head and will provide strategic and operational leadership for evidence generation activities across all Therapeutic Areas in GSK. In this highly visible role, you will engage and build strong partnerships with a broad set of stakeholders across the business and be required facilitate cross-functional, cross-regional, and market communication. This includes partners in Medical Affairs, Global TAs, and local operating companies (LOCs), business operations and PM teams, Finance, Legal, Compliance and Procurement.
The role will sit on the European Evidence Generation leadership team and will work with a variety of stakeholders within and outside the team to drive prioritization, planning, and progress reporting for cross-functional stakeholders in the region, locally and globally. Internal Stakeholders will include the Global Medical Affairs TA and asset Leads, Value Evidence Leads, and Operations Leaders, Therapy Area Finance and Legal partners.
Responsibilities:
This role will provide you the opportunity to lead key activities to progress your career, these responsibilities include some of the following:
- Lead transformation and change management support for newly formed European Evidence Generation Team
- Act as a strategic thought partner for the European Evidence Generation Head and the VP Medical Affairs, Europe, by providing structure, input, and perspective to make prioritized decisions based on future vision and goals.
- Partner with the European Evidence Generation Head to manage the activities of the team, coordinate team meetings including agendas and develop communications.
- Orchestrate senior stakeholder review of Evidence Generation plans and facilitate planning of European Evidence Generation activities. Coordinate budget and resource planning across the Regional team, and providing operational input across VEO and Medical Affairs, including developing appropriate reports to global and regional stakeholders.
- Provide coordination across European Evidence Generation team to ensure alignment with overall department strategies and initiatives, best practices, review performance and make recommendations for improvement in quality/efficiency.
- Lead and partner on key cross-functional initiatives for organizational development.
Why You?
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, science, medicine, finance or honors degree
- 5+ years combination of experience in Strategy / Operations role at global PharmaCo and Pharma Strategy / Operations consulting.
- Strong experience applying in Medical Affairs/ Health Outcomes/Epidemiology areas working in a matrix environment across departmental lines and managing senior stakeholders effectively.
- Consulting/advisory experience at senior management level (e.g., through strategy or change initiative roles in industry, or in a professional services organization)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree or MBA
- Proactive problem-solving mindset and ability to work flexibly to achieve team goals
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Strong networking skills and an ability to achieve through engaging the co-operation of others.
